Amazing Philospher

http://www.kqed.org/radio/programs/index.jsp?pgmid=RD13

Slavoj iek
Slavoj iek -- The program begins its new season with guest Slavoj iek, senior researcher at the Institute of Sociology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. iek has been a visiting professor at Columbia University, Princeton, and The New School. Arguably the only living philosopher who uses popular culture to explain the theory of Jacques Lacan and the theory of Lacan to explain popular culture, his work is both eccentric and deeply thoughtful and has garnered him a large following internationally. A philosopher, psychoanalyst, film buff, amateur theologian and political analyst, iek is the author of more than 30 books which cover a range of topics from the expected (Kant and Heidegger), to the politically charged (Abu Ghraib), to the wholly unexpected (M. Night Shyamalan's commercial failure The Village).

Arsenic in Delano's Water

The Arsenic is 5 times the legal limit. 50 parts per billion, when the law required that it be 10 parts per billion by 2006. The Federal law was passed in 2004. 8 out of 11 of the wells used for Delano's water are beyond the legal limit. You can see that this does not affect much of the country. But our Central Valley is devastated by it because of the Arsenic in the pesticides used in the fields. This Arsenic is linked to both cancer and diabetes.

It was a play off game that got decided on penalty kicks. Here he stops one with his chest. His nino Klent took the picture.
